There's no better invention for helping tall, gangly plants to finish their season. The bees love my Caryoptera so much that I want to leave the heavily laden branches alone until every last blossom has fallen off. By then, the branches are flopping over, almost touching the ground along the main passageway alongside my house. Being able to prop up the branches with these Y-stakes is the perfect solution... it helps the plant, the people and the bees!
Grammy needed something to keep her flowers upright and her lab kept knocking off stems by accident, with his tail! They are stiff enough that I had to help her get them into the shape she wanted, but once we put it in the soil to support her flowers, she was thrilled! The flowers are held up by a durable, stable stake and are kept safe from the dogs tail.
Good stacks to have on hand. It has a sturdy post and bendable arms to have you help support any size plant that u need help with. Easy to use just adjust where you need the arms to go. All one piece so you won't lose any pieces. Its holding up my lilac great.
These are a good design, allowing for the arms to be bent around the plant, but the stakes are pretty short, which limits their use. I used them to hold up some plants that were leaning to one side, and they are working for that. They're coated with something sticky that you have to wash off of your hands after touching them, which is annoying, but only impacts you when you open the package, and then again when you install or remove them. I definitely suggest wearing garden gloves to handle them. The value isn't very good though - there are definitely less expensive options out there.
These Y-stakes are decent, but make sure you check the height of the plants you plan to use them with before ordering. While they're advertised as 1 foot tall, you'll need to push a good portion of the stake into the ground for stability. In my garden, that left only about 6 inches above the soil, so they're really best suited for shorter plants. They've worked well for my calla lily leaves while they're still young and for some of my shorter wildflowers. I especially like that the two arms can be bent into gentle semicircles. That makes it easy to cradle my lily leaves and keep them from flopping over. For my wildflowers with thin stems and oversized blooms, I simply leave the arms mostly straight to give them a little extra support. The stake itself appears to be made of aluminum with a pointed end that's easy to push into the soil. The two support arms are movable and can be bent slightly into different curved positions, but don't expect unlimited flexibility. They aren't like Gumby-you can shape them into gentle curves, not elaborate bends. So, are they worth it? For my wildflowers, yes. I even used one as a small border-style support, giving the flowers something to lean against. That said, for many plants, two simple stakes and a piece of garden twine would provide similar-or even better-support at a fraction of the cost. These are convenient and reusable, but I do think they're a bit overpriced for what they are. One good note, they are made in the USA and are durable enough to hold up the shorter stems I'll be using them for.
I bought the Y‑Stakes (1 ft length, set of 2) to help stabilize my zinnas and they've worked great. The steel feels sturdy, the shape gives great grip in the ground, and they stay put even during windy Florida afternoons. They're easy to install-just press or tap them into the soil-and once they're in, they don't budge. While my zinnias could probably use a taller sized stake, I like that they are hidden in the garden. Great size for medium height plants. the cost of a 2 pack is a great value for the price. I will likely be buying more for all over my garden.
These stakes are perfect for holding heavy flowers up. I needed to hold up my hydrangeas and used these. They are great because you can put them in at a curve, which is what I needed. Definitely recommend.
Why did I know that such a thing like these Y-Stakes existed before? I ordered this two pack of 1 foot stakes, and immediately put them to good use. We have these lovely plants along the walkway which constantly fall into the path; in placing these bendable stakes at an angle, I was able to get them off of the path so that it's easy to walk from the house to the garage, while still preserving the plants. Next year, I am going to make sure I place these stakes along the pathway before these perennials flower, to keep them from getting as crushed as they did prior to my starting to use the stakes. It's something I will probably get another one or two sets of, as well! They are very sturdy, and easy to use. I also like that they are made in the United States. I mean, really, what's not to like?
These are such great quality stakes and easy to adjust and the material is perfect for all plants! It's made so durably and is the perfect size! Installation was so easy and I love the strong post!
This is a creative way to support your small plants if they want to flop over onto the sidewalk. It's not made for big, heavier plants like peonies or tomatoes, but for little ones. For my California Poppies, it provides just enough support to hold them up and prevent them from getting stepped on. Be careful not to trip over it once installed because it blends into the landscape quite well. Easy to use, just push the center stake, about 12 inches tall with a sharpish point on the bottom, into the dirt and bend the arms, about 14 inches long each, for the support your plant needs. These stakes are made of aluminum shafts with galvanized coated green wire to bend into the shape you need. They are made in the USA, which I don't see very often lately. They work well in my garden.
I love the flexible arms. However, the height was too short, so I returned them. I have similar stakes that are two feet and four feet tall plus the flexible arms. I wish I could find more of these.
This Y stake was too small for my 6 foot flowering maple. My plant is very bushy, one stake didn't do the trick. Good product though.
